Well, it certainly took me a while to find my journal, didn't it? ~~I wish I knew how it got in the lake in the first place, but...~~

In any case, I'd like to remind my students that my lovely Teaching Assistant has dutifully posted the requirements for your next assignment. Remember to hand it in on the 15th, which is the day before the next field trip, so it should be easy to remember!

Speaking of field trips, I'll be joining you all as chaperon, since I know my way around the Ministry. We hardly got any field trips back in my days at Hogwarts, so be sure to make the best of it!

Why do we have to go by train, though? I-I wanted to meet you all there, but Dumbledore said that the train ride was "part of the fun." I'd rather that than the Knight Bus, that's for sure, but... None of you will mind if I pass out, right?

No. In fact, I'd say I hate them. They're terrifying, dangerous, high-speed metal coffins. [this ramble could go on for ages.]

But it's not just trains, if that's what you're worried about.

Hmmm... Well, I've been dealing with my Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors so far. They aren't too difficult, as long as you keep their attention. Your students aren't rowdier than they are, are they?

I've been on them and nothing's ever happened! I don't think it's anything to be scared of...

Yes, well... It could happen. I'd rather avoid taking the chance whenever I can. There's nothing wrong with ~~collapsing~~ sleeping during the train ride, is there?

You'll probably get your own group of kids to watch over. This is gonna be a big thing and a lot of us are going.

You'd be surprised. The Ministry can be interesting, but most departments really only deal with trivial things. In my years working there, I think we only handled about a dozen renegade brooms and only a handful of missapparated or unsuccessful floo victims.

Yes, I plan on spending both trips in and out of Hogwarts pleasantly unconscious. It's better that way.

Well, I was transferred as a sort of punishment, so it's likely that I ended up in the least exciting department. Someone thought it'd be ironic if they put me in the Department of Magical Transportation.

That way, I don't have to spend hours thinking about how dangerous the ride is; if I'm unconscious, I'll be blissfully unaware.

Ah, I was thinking the same thing. It's a shame it didn't occur to me sooner, or I would've found my journal much earlier.

Ironic?... Dangerous? You're kidding right? I'd be more worried of what'd happen while unconscious because of the people than just how 'dangerous' the train is.

As long as you keep an eye on the kids you're in charge of, there shouldn't be any problems.

Yes, I'll be sure to keep an eye on them. Especially in the Ministry; it's easy to get lost and end up somewhere you shouldn't.

Either that or they'll choose to go off and explore somewhere they shouldn't. But there should be enough staff around to keep an eye on them. At least there's less chance of mishap with the train than apparating or floo.

Oh, God, don't remind me. I once saw a man whose left foot ended up in China! ...but that was with the Floo network.

I prefer apparating, actually. It can be completely safe so long as you practice good control.

True enough. Still, when it comes to looking after kids, you always think of everything that could go wrong. I know I was stressing last year there would be a mishap when we travelled via portkey for a trip.

Yes, exactly! Traveling is so dangerous! The ride into Hogwarts is bad enough. If it were up to me, we'd have all the school activities in-house.

At the very least I'm glad people seem to be learning from all this. Portkeys are right up there with brooms as some of the most unreliable methods of magical transportation...

Still, if we must we must, we're to set an example to the kids after all.

Doesn't seem any methods are without some risk, but hey, better to try than live in doubt right?

Yes. Unfortunately... As teachers, we do what we have to. Even if it means facing our ~~absolutely not petty~~ fears.

Well, you may be surprised what you can do if you really need to, even facing fear.
